Soil Fertility Matters!
Let’s face it. Proper soil fertility is a prerequisite to
healthy roots, happy soil microbes and, ultimately, higher-than-ever
organic yields and quality. It’s so important, in fact, a
1997 survey conducted by the Organic Farming Research Foundation
found that of the more than 4,600 certified U.S. organic farmers
that participated, soil fertility issues ranked second and third
in their research priorities.1 Weed
management ranked first. Specifically, farmers wanted to know more
about the relationship between fertility management and crop health,
pest and disease resistance, as well as the relationship of organic
growing practices to nutritional value.
Organic Farmers Use OMRI-Listed Inputs
If
you’re
familiar with the organic movement (or have been a part of it),
you’ve heard of “OMRI,” which stands for the
Organic Materials Review Institute. The OMRI Listed™ seal
is an industry-recognized mark that helps assure producers that
the farm input meets organic certification requirements.
K-Mag NATURAL is OMRI listed!
Lucky
are the organic growers who add K-Mag NATURAL to their organic
fertilizer medley. K-Mag NATURAL is a unique, naturally occurring
3-in-1 combination of potassium (22% K20), magnesium (11% Mg) and
sulfur (22% S). This nutrient-dense mineral source, known as “langbeinite,” can
be the secret ingredient that catapults a crop from ordinary to
extraordinary!
3 Essential Nutrients in the Sulfate Form
K-Mag
NATURAL is virtually 100% water soluble, meaning crops have access
to three essential nutrients:
| • |
Potassium – Essential
for protein synthesis and protein formation. It improves the flavor
and color of fruits and vegetables, and promotes drought tolerance,
winter hardiness, and disease and insect resistance. |
| • |
Magnesium – Resides at the heart
of the pigment-containing molecule, chlorophyll. As rates of photosynthesis
decline, so do quality and yield. |
| • |
Sulfur – Remains a key element in
crop proteins. It is a requirement for nitrogen fixation in legumes
and vital to vitamin synthesis in all plants, important determinants
of crop quality. Without sulfur, onions, garlic and mustard would not
possess their distinctive flavors. |
Grades and Sizes Available
K-Mag NATURAL comes
in two grades: Granular and Standard. Both are available in either 50-lb bags
or 1-ton totes.
